Changed gearbox oil, water getting in via rubber gaiter on gearstick, fitted condom underneath, took 3 goes, hope that stops it.

Got it out of storage fully expecting to have to charge the battery after 2.5 months of alarm and immobiliser.
11.8v, started first time. Result!
Thought “nuts to it, a quick spin, why not?” and was halfway through getting my clobber on when the rain started. Not a result.

New battery time. The price of a replacement Exide 053 (54Ah/530A) seemed steep but a bit of searching found a Varta 052 - a lot cheaper, easier to fit being 30mm shorter yet similarly rated at 52Ah/520A and a 5 year guarantee too.

Re: What have you done to your Trike today... (2024)
I changed the old squealing fan belt yesterday, a 10 minute job that ended up taking a couple of hours...
I couldn't get the new one between the crankshaft pulley and the remote oil filter and despite crawling over and underneath my hands just wouldn't fit so I ended up squeezing it through with a long screwdriver. I also had to move the alternator in so much that the end of the slotted strap touched the fan and had to grind a few mm off the end to get clearance.
The new one's about half a mm narrower (which I thought down to the old one being very worn) and's got a deeper section too - even though the markings are the same on both belts they obviously aren't. If I'd bought them locally (one to use, one for a spare) I would have swapped them but it's a risk you take when buying on line I suppose.
