FLASH TRIKE

Post by biker69 »

I bought an early trike (to be delivered this week) it is fitted with 'trailer type' rear lights and looks naff.
I am looking at some chinese all in one park, brake, turn, side, and reverse led's for it, in the demo they connect them to a constant power source and the the indicators go through a wave motion, will this still be the case when connected to the trikes 'old' electrics?
The other thing is it is registered as built in '99 and a 1.2lt imported in 2013, would this be a 1.2lt ?

re indicators - unlikely as 'std. old' electrics usually have a switched 12v through lamp to earth also don't normally like playing with LED lights. As regards 1.2 - what engine is it?

Okey dokey, I am unsure if the engine is really a 1.2 or changed at some point, any way of telling the difference between them?

Seeing as we've absolutely no idea what engine it is - how can we advise?

I know next to nothing about these engines but isn't it possible to look up the engine number somewhere?
As for the indicators, if you really like those led rears then get them and if they don't work just get an led flasher unit and led bulbs for the front indicators (and side repeaters if you've got them).

VW engines can be any size from 1.2 to 2.0 depending on who built it. Going by the V5 or the engine number means nothing.
From 1.2 to 1641 cc they all look the same.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Thats exactly what i was thinking, the V5 came through and it pretty much confirms with the engine number is a 1.2lt (if they were 'honest' with DVLA 😎) Online check is showing 26,000miles. For a 25 years old its pretty spanking.
Will put some pics in members trikes.
